The article analyses the legal basis of humanitarian cooperation between Russia and its closest partners – the five post-Soviet Central Asian states. The contents of the existing bilateral documents are compared. In addition, the article checks whether they are comprehensive, and either obligatory or declaratory. Humanitarian cooperation includes such areas of interaction as culture, education, science, information and media, sport, tourism and youth policy.
