The article is devoted to the evolution of scientific ideas of Russian labour law researchers on the possibility of invalidating an employment contract and its specific terms, as well as the legal regulation of this issue in the pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern periods. There are some examples on how the labour law doctrine had influenced the formation of legal rules on invalidity of an employment contract and its specific terms.
