Abstract: 

An author researches the influence of the juridical practice for the formation of antique rhetorical canon. The appearance of the geographical doctrine is interpreted as a result of the penetration the art of memory into political and juridical culture of Greek-roman intellectuals, which had pursued the objective to justify the civilization superiority over «barbarian» nations.
