Abstract: 

The powers of the investigator as an actor of the prevention of juvenile crimes are examined. The author distinguishes two stages of the investigator’s preventive work: identifying the causes and conditions which contributed to committing a crime; and adoption of measures for eliminating the revealed circumstances. The peculiarities of carrying out certain investigative actions to identify the causes of a crime are considered. Recommendations for tactical planning for the investigator’s activities at this stage are given. The author proposes to implement a set of procedural and nonprocedural measures in order to improve the efficiency of eliminating the identified causes and conditions.
