Abstract: 

The author examines the development of relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Norway since the 9th century. She asserts that the cooperation between two countries in various spheres of public life since the 1990s seems to be profitable. Some contradictions in the interpersonal communication and the obvious negative impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the cooperation between two countries are studied. It is concluded that relations between Russia and Norway have ambivalent nature, and the necessity of common policy based on mutual respect is highlighted.
