THE MECHANISM OF THE FORMATION OF COGNITIVE TRACES AND THE FEATURES OF THEIR STUDY

To designate subjective images of material reality, traces of human memory, the author proposes to use the term «cognitive traces», based on the fact that these traces are formed when a person mentally perceives and processes external information. The article presents a general view of the mechanism of the formation of cognitive traces. The author notes that cognitive traces are inaccessible for direct perception, they are learnt only with the use of verbal and non-verbal means, and the scientific achievements of neuropsychology are the only true basis for the identification and study of traces associated with human mental activity.
