Abstract:

The article examines the ideas about the social and legal progress of mankind put forward by the outstanding Russian legal theorist and philosopher of law N. N. Alekseev. The author analyses his thoughts about the «eternal» idea of law expressing social necessity and regulating reason, about its relationship with the social ideal, and about the universal formula of social progress. Alekseev’s concepts of the later Eurasian period are also considered, namely the concept of the state-private system of management (property), the concept of the «state of truth» and the «guarantee» state. The advantages and disadvantages of these concepts are revealed.
