Abstract:

The issue of combating climate change by the international community is gaining momentum today. Since 2007, the issue of global climate change has even been considered in the UN Security Council in the context of maintaining peace and security, especially in relation to a number of African states. The article criticizes the idea of creating a «climate tribunal» under the UN Security Council, and also proposes the idea of considering climate change issues in the context of peace and security not on an ongoing basis, but in exceptional cases when there are corresponding risks.

Key words:

climate change, mandate of the UN Security Council, Africa
