Abstract: 

On the basis of international legal documents such as the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, International Labour Organization Conventions № 107 and № 169 the author examines the formation of the indigenous peoples’ rights, as well as the concept of indigenous peoples. The article focuses on the current protection of the indigenous peoples’ rights under international law. A special effort is made to the right of indigenous peoples to self-determination, as well as the right to compensation for traditionally owned lands and natural resources.
