INSTITUTIONS FOR FOREIGN PRISONERS OF WAR AND INTERNEES IN THE BASHKIR ASSR IN 1944–1949 (number, dislocation, death rate of the contingent)

The article investigates the number and location of camps for foreign prisoners of war, individual workers’ battalions and special hospitals that were located in the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. It reveals that in the wartime and first post-war years there were 18 branches of five camps for prisoners of war, 7 workers’ battalions and 2 special hospitals. The approximate number of foreign citizens died in them is determined, the current state of foreign military burial places is described, some information about their landscaping in accordance with international agreements of the Russian Federation is given.
