The author examines the EU attempts to establish the Office of the European prosecutors. He investigates the background of the issue, relevant documents, and outcomes for the mechanisms of legal assistance in criminal matters. The competence of the European prosecutor’s office and the procedure of dealing with law enforcement bodies are analyzed. The author tries to find out why the project had been suspended.
