NATIONS AND PEOPLES AS SUBJECTS OF LAW: THE THEORETICAL AND LEGAL ANALYSIS

The author examines the concept of nations and peoples as subjects of law in the Soviet and current legal doctrines. She focuses on core issues of this concept, including the reasons for revival of scientific interest in this concept in the 20th century, the process of ensuring nations’ and peoples’ rights in the international legal acts, problems of nations’ and peoples’ legal personality and features of a subject of law. The author scrutinizes the legal doctrine, concerning this issue, and the correspondence between the nations’ and peoples’ legal personality and the general construction of legal personality.
