The article examines legal issues concerning the regulation of the Faster Payments System (SBP) in the insurance sector. This topic acquires particular public‑law significance in the context of the digital transformation of the economy and the strengthening of the financial sovereignty of the Russian Federation. The authors analyze the role of the SBP as an infrastructural tool that ensures the prompt receipt of insurance premiums. During the examination of the procedure for using the SBP in this sector, legal uncertainty was identified regarding the use of the SBP for paying insurance premiums. This uncertainty directly affects the determination of the effective date of an insurance contract. The authors provide a detailed analysis of the civil‑law and tax implications of this uncertainty, highlighting the risks for insurers and policyholders arising from discrepancies in the recognition of income and expenses. As a proposed solution, the authors suggest the issuance of a joint explanatory document by the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. This document would establish a unified approach, stipulating that the moment of payment of an insurance premium via the SBP should be considered the date on which funds are credited to the insurer’s account. This will help to unify practices, reduce legal and tax‑related risks and will promote the further integration of digital payment technologies in the insurance sector.
