Abstract: 

The article describes the problems caused by the casual approach of the legislator to the construction of criminal law norms providing for liability for gross violations of traffic regulations of the Russian Federation (Art. 264.1–264.3 of the Criminal Code). According to the authors, the current version of these articles creates conditions for violating the principles of justice and equality, and also reduces the effectiveness of criminal law policy in combating gross violations of traffic laws of the Russian Federation and their consequences. The conclusion is formulated about the need to consolidate these types of crimes into single complex crimes with administrative and criminal prejudice with alternative signs.
