Abstract:

The article critically evaluates some of the views that have developed in the legal community on the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in criminal proceedings. The negative trend is that these capabilities are perceived from extreme positions – either they are clearly underestimated (and then high-performance computing power is proposed to be used to solve primitive tasks), or unjustified hopes are placed on them (when the tasks differ in scale and abstract nature). Practically demanded and specific directions of using artificial intelligence in criminal proceedings are proposed: calculating the burden on the investigator and automating the recording of interrogations.
