The article defines the features of the modern mechanism of legal regulation of the Bank of Russia’s activities in the field of consumer protection of financial services. A new legal mechanism for reviewing appeals and complaints from consumers of financial services by the Bank of Russia, which entered into force on July 1, 2024 and involves redirecting appeals to a financial institution whose actions are being appealed, is being investigated. Its positive aspects and risks are analyzed. The features of the behavioral supervision of the Bank of Russia, its formation of approaches to the legal regulation of financial services, and the reasons for the implementation of unfair practices by financial organizations are considered separately. It is proposed to establish that the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services is a function of the Bank of Russia. It is necessary to amend the legislation to consolidate it.
