The article examines the organization of work and the results of the activities of the Law Drafting Commission in 1801–1825 on streamlining state-church laws in the context of systematization work. It shows the study of the sources of canonical and church law by the Commission, the formation of the main approaches to streamlining laws and determining the place of spiritual laws in the system of Russian legislation, the consolidation of Orthodoxy as the state religion in the draft Fundamental Laws of the Russian Empire. Particular attention is focused on the integration of church-legal provisions into the draft codified acts: Civil and Criminal Codes of the Russian Empire, as well as the creation of documents supplementing them.
