Abstract:

The main scientific directions and legal schools which developed at the Imperial Kazan University, especially at a boundary of the XIX–XX centuries are considered. The most outstanding scientists-lawyers of the University who influenced development of various sciences of public and private law are shown. It is noted that revolutionary events of 1917 and the begun Civil war caused rejection by a considerable part of university professorate of the power of Bolsheviks. Departure of many scientists from Kazan became a consequence of sweeping changes in social life and in the university environment. The author investigated why the center of their new concentration became founded in 1918 Irkutsk University. Intellectual biographies of scientists and teachers-lawyers, their communications with Kazan and Irkutsk are analyzed. The attention to continuity of the oldest Kazan and young Irkutsk legal schools is paid. It is specified that main events of the beginning of the 1930s mentioned legal education in  the country. On concrete examples it is investigated how there was a transit of Institute of the Soviet right from Irkutsk to Sverdlovsk as it affected the future of professors and teachers-lawyers. The conclusion is drawn that, despite various social transformations it was succeeded to keep the best traditions of legal education, having adapted them to essentially new conditions.
