Abstract: 

The article characterizes the fundamental properties and characteristic features of legal education and science in the Russian Empire and in the Soviet decades. Attention is drawn to the importance of the issues of transition periods, as well as transits, cultural transfers and continuity. The memorable date of a particular law school is shown as an occasion to once again think about the connectivity and development of scientific schools, educational practices of Kazan and Irkutsk universities, Sverdlovsk Law Institute. The bearers of university culture were legal scholars who linked the times and ensured the continuity of the traditions of training professional legal personnel and jurisprudence.
