LEGISLATIVE REGULATION OF THE LEGAL STATUS OF THE LANGUAGES OF THE PEOPLE IN THE REPUBLICS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

One of the most important issues of the language policy of a multinational state is the legislative consolidation of the status of the languages of the people. Herewith, key attention should be paid to the languages of the people used in the republics of the Russian Federation: due to the special legal status of these subjects, the use of the languages of the people is legitimate not only in everyday life but also at the official level. The issue of preserving, maintaining and developing the languages of the people in Russia is of particular interest. This is due to the heterogeneous regional legislation on language policy in the republics of the Russian Federation: even in neighbouring republics, the rules and guarantees for the use of the same language often differ significantly.
