Abstract: 

The analysis of doctrine and norms of current civil legislation allows the author to reveal the legal characteristics of animals as objects of civil rights. The article examines the novelties of domestic legislation in the field of responsible treatment of animals. A brief overview of judicial practice on the stated problem is presented.
