On the basis of the thesis about four levels of scientific knowledge: sensory, empirical, theoretical and metatheoretical, the author asserts that a certain set of information about forensic traces is a complete scientific knowledge in the form of a doctrine. The postulates of each level of scientific knowledge about traces of crimes are disclosed. The versatility and complexity of these levels are shown.
