Abstract:

The article is devoted to the fate of German political emigrants who came to the USSR in the first half of the 1930s and were sent to live in the Sverdlovsk region. The source base of the study is the archival and investigative case files stored in the State Archive of the Administrative Bodies of the Sverdlovsk region, which are a valuable source in the study of various aspects of the problem of political repression in the USSR. Among 3693 cases of repressed Soviet and foreign citizens of German nationality, there are the case files of 23 German political emigrants who were under criminal investigation. These materials allow to learn about facts of their life, to determine the articles of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR of 1926, under which political emigrants were convicted, to characterize the decisions of the Special meeting of the NKVD handed down against persons under investigation.
