ORIGINS OF THE CRIMINOLOGICAL SCHOOL OF IRKUTSK STATE UNIVERSITY IN THE 1920S: G. YU. MANNS AND G. G. MAGULIANO

The article is devoted to the historiographic analysis of the early stage of the formation of the regional scientific school of criminology at the Irkutsk State University in the 1920s. The methodological part of the article contains a description of the author’s approach to the scientific school as a phenomenon that requires a comprehensive perception and application of various methods of scientific knowledge. In the descriptive and analytical part, based on the historiographic and functional perspectives, the work of the leader of the school G. Yu. Manns and his colleague G. G. Maguliano is analyzed. Based on the material of thematically close studies, the similarity of approaches and originality of these authors, their interaction are shown. It is substantiated that G. G. Maguliano, despite her comparatively lesser fame, made a significant contribution to criminological research.
