Abstract:

The author highlights the features of traditional medicine and its legal regulation. The latter includes the lack of special regulation at the level of international law and significant diversity of national approaches. The regulation of traditional medicine in Russia is undeveloped and needs to be improved. This improvement, in particular, may consist in clarifying the rights of patients using traditional medicine, taking into account the experience of foreign countries. State policy in the field of regulation of traditional medicine is passive. The priority measures that can improve the situation include: fixing the general procedure and conditions for issuing licenses for traditional medicine practices; establishing a general procedure for evaluating and registering traditional medicaments; creating a register of traditional healers; establishing mandatory self-regulation; fixing the rules for the provision of services in the field of traditional medicine, etc.
